IVADO and HEC Montréal’s Tech3Lab have launched a new training program on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) entitled “Professional Practice in the AI Era.” This free training initiative is funded by the Government of Canada as part of the Future Skills program.
The official launch of the training program took place on January 21, 2026, at HEC Montréal’s Hélène Desmarais Building. The scientific directors of this program, Marion Korosec-Serfaty and Pierre-Majorique Léger, acted as hosts for the event.
This initiative is primarily designed for professionals across Quebec and Canada and aims to develop their AI literacy to enable them to understand this technology and grasp its possibilities and limitations. Rather than prescribing technological uses, this innovative initiative focuses on strengthening judgment in order to promote the active, critical and responsible role of individuals in their professional decisions.
Interactive and accessible online, the training takes the form of a documentary series. It offers a four-part thematic course designed to be followed flexibly according to the needs of each individual:
The program includes video clips, personalized introspective questions, and a self-assessment tool, allowing each participant to progress at their own pace and receive recommendations tailored to their situation.
IVADO is an interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral research and knowledge mobilization consortium whose mission is to develop and promote a robust, reasoning and responsible AI. Led by Université de Montréal with four university partners (Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal, Université Laval and McGill University), IVADO brings together research centres, government bodies and industry members to co-build ambitious cross-sectoral initiatives with the goal of fostering a paradigm shift for AI and its adoption.
HEC Montréal’s Tech3Lab is the world’s largest academic research laboratory specialized in user experience (UX) evaluation with digital technologies, mainly in business contexts. The research conducted at the Tech3Lab is characterized by the use of tools and methods from neuroscience and artificial intelligence, as well as by the measurement of perceptions, attitudes and behaviours, in order to develop a rich, precise and reliable understanding of the experience of users (consumers, employees and citizens) interacting with technology. Two research chairs working in close collaboration with industry coexist within Tech3Lab: the Chair in User Experience and the RBC Financial Group Chair of E-Commerce.
