To find an internship, a project or a summer job, you have to be proactive. We recommend you take into consideration the following advice:
Are you in the CPA track? Visit the CPA Practical Experience page.
Employers are looking for candidates who can demonstrate their professionalism and who are able to highlight their skills and the relevance of these skills. You have to present employers with convincing documents.
Visit our section CV and Letters and the page Create your LinkedIn Profile. You will find the advice you need to adapt your applications for the positions that interest you.
Most offers for internships, projects and jobs in the summer are posted from January to March, with a maximum in January. But, be careful!
Offers for internships and projects in the fall and winter are usually posted three to four months prior to the commencement date.
If you are a BBA student, do not prevent yourself from completing your internship in the fall or winter, even if it means graduating in more than 3 years. In fact, a future employer will look favorably upon your internship or project experience, despite your having completed your diploma over more than 3 years. Furthermore, there is much less competition for internships in the fall or winter as compared to internships in the summer.
Sending three or four applications is insufficient to get you an interview. Moreover, meeting with an employer does not guarantee that your application will be selected. You therefore need to send a certain number of CVs and use various strategies to get yourself noticed.
