Lieutenant Governor’s Medals for 4 members of the student community

Catherine Laberge, Guillaume Payette, Victoria Majeau and Noémie Nantel have been awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal, a decoration that recognizes sustained volunteer involvement or an inspiring attitude with a positive influence on society.
About the winner
Catherine Laberge, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), with a specialization in Marketing, has been involved in student life since her arrival at HEC Montréal. Getting actively involved in student life was an obvious choice for this outgoing Eastern Townshipper. She stands out for her commitment to various committees, including the Comité Sports et Loisirs and the Association Marketing HEC Montréal. As Vice-President of External Affairs, she has developed numerous partnerships aimed at exposing students to more concrete professional opportunities.
She represents HEC Montréal on the national and international scene, winning first place at the Ted Rogers Ethical Leadership Case Competition in Toronto and third place at the ROCA Case Competition in the Netherlands.
As current President of the HEC Montréal Competitions Committee, she manages a 17-member team and contributes to a collaborative culture that focuses on inclusion, personal growth and healthy competition. Her approach is based on inspiring leadership and a constant desire to help others progress. Inspire, include and connect: such are the values that guide her commitment.

For Guillaume Payette, BBA with a specialization in Accounting, student involvement first begins with the Club d’entrepreneurs YEP at HEC Montréal. In his second year, he helped organize La Grande Finale, the largest student entrepreneurial competition in Quebec, with over 300 participants. The selection committee, made up of seasoned entrepreneurs, crowned start-up Vega BioImaging for its innovative breast cancer detection technology.
This year, Guillaume was appointed Vice-President, Participation and Contribution of the Competition Committee. One of the man purposes of this new role is to ensure the success of the participation and contribution aspects of the RÉFAEC competitions. At the Jeux du Commerce, he is working with the Fondation Laurent Duvernay-Tardif to organize an event to benefit underprivileged families. He coordinates workshops at Saint-Paul elementary school in Laval, and is also involved with the Douglas Foundation, striving to promote its mission among his peers.
His participation in various committees and Campus Maroc in 2023, as well as his volunteer activities, make Guillaume an outstanding ambassador for entrepreneurship and student involvement.

Victoria Majeau, a soon-to-be BBA graduate with a specialization in Accounting, stands out for her dynamism and commitment. In her first year, she took on the role of Vice-President, Finance for her cohort, raising funds to optimize the student experience. At the same time, she also became an ambassador for HEC Montréal, proudly representing the School to college and high school students in promotional videos and at open houses.
Currently, Victoria serves as the Volunteer President of the Comité CPA, whose mission is to promote the accounting profession within the student community. She organizes free activities and events to encourage exchanges between up-and-coming students and professionals in the field. She also coaches her colleagues and helps them take their first steps into the professional world.
Driven by a deep desire to make a difference, Victoria creates an environment conducive to collaboration and inspiration, both in the classroom and in her extracurricular activities. Her journey at HEC Montréal reflects her committed leadership and desire to actively contribute to the student community and the next generation of professionals.

Noémie Nantel, BBA with a specialization in Marketing, has an exceptional ability to turn challenges into levers for growth. From the moment she arrived at HEC Montréal, she has rigorously balanced a hectic schedule with her family obligations. Her career path inspires many students, who see her as an example of perseverance and discipline.
As Academic Vice-President of the HEC Montréal Competitions Committee, she passes on her passion for case-solving to her 1st and 2nd year colleagues. She is the driving force behind the Académie, a 3-session training program in case analysis and presentation techniques attended by over 170 students. This initiative values rigorous work and progress through effort.
Noémie takes part in numerous local and international university competitions and shares her experiences with the next generation of students to inspire them to strive for excellence. Passing on knowledge and supporting her peers are as important to her as her own successes. Her commitment is guided by mutual aid, resilience and collective ambition.
