December 22, 2025

The Université de Montréal (UdeM) and its affiliated schools, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal, performed well in two international rankings: QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 and Global Employability University Ranking and Survey 2026 (GEURS).

Rise in sustainable transition

They are ranked 53rd worldwide and 5th in Canada in the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability, which evaluate performance in terms of sustainable transition on the basis of 52 indicators divided into three categories: Environmental Impact (45%), Social Impact (45%) and Governance (10%). Their rankings shot up 12 and 2 spots respectively, compared to last year.

Data is obtained from various sources, including the Elsevier bibliometric database, annual QS reputation surveys, and institutional statistics.

Among the best universities in the world for employability

UdeM and its affiliated schools are ranked 88th worldwide and 4th in Canada in the list of the world’s best universities for employability. Produced by Emerging, in partnership with Times Higher Education, GEURS is the only university-level comparative tool based exclusively on the point of view of international employers.

This year, 250 institutions were selected from among the 1,000 that were evaluated by over 12,000 managers and recruitment specialists in 32 countries. These experts had to vote on various employment-related indicators.
