HEC Montréal case studies excel in two international rankings

November 2, 2026

Case studies produced at HEC Montréal continue to leave their mark on the global stage. The School is ranked 13th worldwide in the new Financial Times Case Impact Ranking and 30th in the Case Centre Impact Index 2026.

Noteworthy presence in the new Financial Times ranking

In its first edition, the Financial Times Case Impact Ranking assesses the reach and impact of case studies produced by business schools. It draws on data pooled by five leading international publishers and distributors of case studies, taking into account factors such as their dissemination among educational institutions and their global outreach.

By soaring to 13th place internationally, HEC Montréal currently sits in the top quarter of this new international ranking.

Steady upward trend in the Case Centre Impact Index

This latest distinction is in addition to the results obtained at the Case Centre Impact Index 2026, where HEC Montréal ranks 30th in the world, in contrast to its 38th ranking the previous year.

Published by The Case Centre, a British organization that compiles and distributes the world’s largest collection of case studies, this index measures the influence of higher education institutions based on the usage of the case studies they produce.

50 years of expertise in case study pedagogy

These results are part of a tradition of developing and disseminating case study pedagogy at HEC Montréal since 1976.

The Case Centre provides academic and professional communities with access to a catalogue of over 1,900 cases in French and English. It also publishes the International Journal of Case Studies in Management (IJCSM), a peer-reviewed academic journal.

Over the past year, five new case studies written by authors from HEC Montréal have been added to The Case Centre’s distribution catalogue. This collection now includes over 180 case studies from HEC Montréal, many of which are accompanied by teaching notes, software or video content intended for the teaching staff.

Three case studies produced at HEC Montréal have also received awards of excellence over the past year, helping to showcase the School’s expertise within the academic and professional communities.
