Hogan Family Foundation Makes Transformative US$2 Million Gift to Support HEC Montréal’s Pole D

July 8, 2026

HEC Montréal’s Pole D is entering an exciting new chapter thanks to a transformative US$2 million gift from the Hogan Family Foundation, whose mission is to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and strategic leadership through support for educational, civic, and humanitarian initiatives.

In recognition of this landmark philanthropic contribution, Pole D will soon adopt a new name. More details about this new identity will be announced at a later date.

Established in 2021, Pole D is a one-of-a-kind research and knowledge hub in Quebec, bringing together leading researchers and experienced CEOs. Its mission is to deepen our understanding of strategic leadership at the highest levels and equip leaders to drive meaningful impact within their organizations and across society.

Support from an American foundation of this calibre reflects the growing influence of Pole D’s mission within both business and academic communities in Canada and around the world.

“This gift is meaningful to us in two important ways. First, it affirms the value of our work and helps ensure its long-term future. Second, Robert Hogan is a pioneering scholar whose intellectual legacy continues to inspire us, and we are proud to carry that forward,” said Alaric Bourgoin, Director of Pole D.

Robert Hogan is internationally recognized as one of the most influential figures in leadership psychology. As founder of Hogan Assessments, he helped revolutionize the use of personality assessment in organizations, establishing scientific evaluation as a powerful tool for understanding, selecting, and developing leaders. Through this collaboration, the Hogan Family Foundation highlights the strong alignment between Pole D and Hogan Assessments:

“We think leadership is the most important problem in human affairs. Both Pole D and Hogan Assessments are uniquely positioned to join forces, study leadership internationally and apply our discoveries in the business community. We expect this collaboration to improve the state of leadership worldwide.”

This historic gift, the largest in Pole D’s history, marks a defining moment for the organization and will significantly accelerate its mission.

“We are deeply grateful to the Hogan Family Foundation for this extraordinary vote of confidence,” said Michel Patry, CEO of the HEC Montréal Foundation. “This transformative philanthropic investment will expand Pole D’s reach and reinforce HEC Montréal’s position as a global leader in strategic leadership research and development.”
