This year, the Quebec metropolis is ranked 20th globally out of the 150 cities evaluated and 2nd in North America, behind Boston. It is ahead of Toronto (22nd), New York (23rd) and Vancouver (33rd).

Some of Montréal’s noteworthy features include the quality of student experience it offers, the diversity of its student community and the vibrancy of its job market, an indicator that has improved this year. In fact, the city ranks 18th in the world for student experience, 24th for the diversity of its student population and 21st for employer activity.

As the only Canadian city in the top 20, Montréal joins the ranks of major university hubs across Asia, Europe and Australia. Such a recognition reflects its lasting appeal to both local and international students.

This ranking is produced annually by the British organization QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) and is based on six criteria: student mix, desirability, employer activity, affordability, student view and rankings of the concerned universities.
