Two prestigious rankings for an article co-authored by Mouna Knani

The article entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Tourism and Hospitality: Bibliometric analysis and research agenda” that Mouna Knani, an associate professor at HEC Montréal co-authored with researchers Said Echchakoui and Riadh Ladhari, has had a remarkable scientific impact. This study appeared in the International Journal of Hospitality Management in 2022 and is based on a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of artificial intelligence (AI) research in the tourism and hospitality industries.
The article is among the 10 most cited articles in the above journal, and it ranks 2nd in the Top Cited section on the ScienceDirect website. It is also ranked among the top 1% of the most cited publications in the world in its field, according to Web of Science. These 2 prestigious rankings reflect the study’s relevance, its great visibility and its increasing influence within the international scientific community.
The study highlights the evolution of publications, the most influential authors and institutions, as well as the collaborative networks and themes frequently associated with AI in tourism and hospitality. It also outlines new applications of AI and proposes a structured research agenda to support future technological developments in the sector.

About Mouna Knani
Mouna Knani is an associate professor in HEC Montréal’s Department of Human Resources Management, a CRHA (Certified Human Resources Professional) and a member of the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technologies (OBVIA). She has a PhD in human resources management from Université Laval, and she specializes in mental health at work, burnout syndrome, presenteeism, as well as the effects of digital technologies and AI in the workplace.
