Rate definitions
Quebec rate
The Quebec rate includes only the basic amount charged to all students as well as compulsory institutional fees, with no lump-sum differential fee.
If you are among the following clientele, you can receive the Quebec tuition rate, under certain conditions:
- Quebeckers
- Canadians who are Quebec residents
- French citizens in a graduate or PhD program

Canadian rate (non-resident of Quebec)
In addition to the basic amount and compulsory institutional fees, the rate for Canadians who are non-residents of Quebec includes a lump sum set by the Quebec government for each clientele below.
- A lump sum for:
- Canadians who are non-residents of Quebec and enrolled in a program in French or an MSc program thesis stream in English.
- International students who receive an exemption, such as undergraduate students from France.
- A lump sum for Canadians who are non-residents of Quebec and enrolled in a program in English other than the MSc program thesis stream in English.

International rate
In addition to the compulsory basic amount and institutional fees, the international rate includes a lump sum for each of the following clienteles.
- An amount set by the Quebec government for international students enrolled in a research-oriented graduate or PhD program (thesis or dissertation).
- An amount set by the school and the Quebec government for international students enrolled in an undergraduate program or in a program that is not research oriented, including independent study courses.

For international applicants
Our generous new admission scholarship program offers up to $15,000 to international students.
These scholarships are awarded based on the excellence of the admission file. No additional application is necessary.

Scholarships are offered to students by HEC Montréal and its donors, granting agencies, private companies, professional associations, foundations and alumni.
