Meeting the requirements outlined in your immigration documents

Meeting the requirements outlined in your immigration documents

As an international student, you must comply with the conditions outlined in your immigration documents. Failure to comply with these conditions may jeopardize the renewal of your CAQ or study permit, your ability to obtain a work permit, and even your ability to continue your studies. Please take the time to carefully read the information on this page to avoid any issues!

Keep your immigration documents valid

You must have the following three valid documents from the start of your program through its official end, including for the entire duration of your final term of enrollment.

  • A Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ);
  • A study permit;
  • A passport.

Be sure to pay your tuition fees by the due dates. An outstanding balance may restrict your access to HEC en ligne and prevent the processing of documents needed to renew your immigration documents, if applicable.

Make your studies your main activity

Your studies must be your main activity, which means you must be a full-time student during the compulsory terms.

Please be aware that you may not interrupt your studies unless you obtain an authorized leave of absence from the School.

It is your responsibility to verify the requirements that apply to your situation in order to ensure that your course of study remains in compliance.

Make active progress in your program

You are responsible for actively progressing through your program of study and maintaining satisfactory academic performance.

If your academic performance is poor (failing grades or a low cumulative GPA), you will need to provide an explanation as part of your application to renew your CAQ and study permit.

For more details on academic requirements, please refer to the School’s Academic Regulations (PDF, 327 Ko).

Maintain valid health insurance

You must have health insurance coverage for the entire duration of your stay in Quebec.

All international students are automatically enrolled in HEC Montréal's health insurance plan. However, certain exemptions are possible. For more information, visit our web page.
