HEC Montréal distinguished itself at the finals of the Canadian Case Series (CCS), held on March 12 and 13, 2026, in Toronto. A delegation from the School’s MBA program earned first place in this national case competition.
The winning team was composed of Dylan Valente, Valentin Nguyen, Sarah-Eve Morin and Filip Myszak, under the supervision of their coach, Daniel Lone. The group stood out for the rigour of its analysis, the quality of its strategic recommendations and the effectiveness of its presentation.
The CCS is a competition open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a management program at a Canadian university. The 2026 edition brought together 30 university teams at the outset. Following the preliminary rounds, only eight teams advanced to the semifinals, held at the Business Development Bank of Canada’s (BDC) Toronto offices. Ultimately, four teams competed in the grand finale.
This year’s theme highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and in sustaining Canada’s competitive position in the global innovation economy.
Participating teams were challenged to propose accessible, ethical and human centred AI approaches capable of fostering innovation, improving SME performance and supporting inclusive growth.
HEC Montréal’s participation in this student competition was made possible through financial support from the Leadership Fund. The SCU extends its sincere thanks to the HEC Montréal Foundation, as well as to everyone involved in preparing and supporting the student delegations.
