IVADO: Aurélie Labbe appointed scientific co-director – Academic partnerships

On October 6, 2023, IVADO (Institute for Data Valorization) announced the appointment of Professor Aurélie Labbe from HEC Montréal as Scientific Co-Director – Academic Partnerships.

Five key positions have been filled to strengthen IVADO’s scientific leadership alongside Luc Vinet, CEO of IVADO, Yoshua Bengio, Scientific Director, and Pierre Dumouchel, Director of Technology Transfer. The co-directors and scientific advisor will join hands to actively participate in developing the research strategy, managing scientific activities, establishing partnerships, and promoting responsible innovations for the purpose of building and promoting robust artificial intelligence to serve society.

As Scientific Co-Director – Academic Partnerships, Aurélie Labbe will be responsible for establishing links with the faculties and departments of the five partner universities and integrating them into IVADO’s research and knowledge transfer activities.

About Aurélie Labbe

Aurélie Labbe is a professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and holder of the FRQ-IVADO Chair in Data Science. She specializes in large-scale data analysis. With a master’s degree in Statistics from Université de Montréal and a PhD in the same discipline from the University of Waterloo, she has spent over 15 years developing statistical tools for big data with applications in the fields of genomics, neuroscience, and biostatistics. Since joining HEC Montréal in 2016, her research interests have largely focused on the analytical challenges generated by data from intelligent transportation systems.
