Four professors rank in the top 100 for most-cited articles in knowledge management journals

Two articles by School professors Alina Maria Dulipovici and Line Dubé (Information Technology), Anne Bourhis (Human Resources Management) and Réal Jacob (Entrepreneurship and Innovation) are in the top 100 Citation classics published in knowledge management journals.

The list, which is dominated by American and UK scholars, was compiled by the Journal of Knowledge Management, with a view to understanding the development of the knowledge management discipline by analyzing the content of the most frequently cited articles published in 25 academic knowledge management journals since 1997.

The HEC Montréal professors’ contributions that have become citation classics take different forms. The paper entitled "The Theoretical Foundations of Knowledge Management," by Robert Baskerville (Georgia State University) and Alina Maria Dulipovici, published in Knowledge Management Research & Practice in 2006, analyses the theoretical foundations of knowledge management and concludes that this field of research has a strong multidisciplinary theoretical foundation paving the way for quick and meaningful growth.

The paper by Line Dubé, Anne Bourhis and Réal Jacob, "Toward a Typology of Virtual Communities of Practice," is the fruit of an extensive longitudinal empirical study published in 2006 in the Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge and Management. It proposes a typology making it possible to identify the structuring characteristics of virtual communities of practice.
