MSc student recognized by the United Nations

November 19, 2012

The documentary Mulheres com coragem/Women with Courage, directed by Charlotte Marchesseault, from the MSc, International Business option, has been selected for the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) Short Film Festival, organized by the United Nations (UN). Only seven winners were chosen worldwide. Charlotte will have the honour of presenting her film at a ceremony on November 20 at the UN Headquarters, in New York.

Charlotte made her documentary, which looks at a group of women artisans who decided to band together and form a cooperative in Jericoacoara, in northeastern Brazil, as part of her Master’s supervised project, under the direction of associate professors Marlei Pozzebon (International Business) and Luciano Barin Cruz (Management).

The films submitted had to respect the theme of the International Year of Cooperatives, “Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World.” Their content had to help share the message and support the creation of such enterprises by individuals or communities.

The winning film is available on YouTube and will soon be on the UN website too.
