The Quebec rate includes only the basic amount charged to all students as well as compulsory institutional fees, with no lump-sum differential fee.

If you are among the following clientele, you can receive the Quebec tuition rate, under certain conditions:

• Quebeckers
• Canadians who are Quebec residents
• French citizens in a graduate or PhD program

In addition to the basic amount charged to all students and the compulsary institutional fees, the Canadian rate includes a lumpsum differential fee set by the Quebec government that is sometimes subject to a supplemental increase.

A lump sum without a supplemental increase applies if:

• You are a Canadian non-resident of Quebec and meet one of the following conditions:
  • You are studying in a program held in French (excluding independent studies and courses outside your program).
  • You are studying in the MSc thesis stream.
  • You are studying at the doctoral level (excluding PhD programs).
  • You have Canadian/French or Canadian/Belgian dual citizenship.
• You are an international student receiving an exemption, for example, as an undergraduate French student.

The lump-sum differential fee with a supplemental increase applies if:

• You are a Canadian non-resident of Quebec and you meet one of the following conditions:
  • You are studying in a program held in English (excluding MSc thesis stream and doctoral level).
  • You are an independent student or are taking courses outside your program (excluding doctoral level).
• You are a refugee, protected person, or person in need of protection and you meet certain conditions.
