Overview

Is the research stay right for you?

Depending on your situation, you can study at our school in order to:

  • Advance a thesis or dissertation project by obtaining expertise or support from an HEC professor.
  • Participate in an internship recognized as part of your studies.
  • Carry out a research project of limited duration for one of our professors or research units.

Eligibility conditions

You must:

  • Be enrolled at a university other than HEC Montréal
  • Receive an invitation by an HEC Montréal professor who agrees to supervise you during your stay. You can find a supervisor by consulting our faculty list or research units directory.

Important dates

You must complete your admission application at least 60 days before the start of your research visit.

Consult the academic calendar to find out the start and end dates of the semesters.

Duration of stay

You can take part in a research stay for:

  • Less than 120 days
  • 120 days or more, subject to certain conditions

Tuition fees apply per semester for the entire duration of your stay.

You are responsible for ensuring that you are authorized to enter and study in Canada. Consult the Government of Canada website to confirm these requirements and find out the visa processing times from outside Canada.

Depending on your citizenship, and the duration of your stay, you may need an Electronic Travel Authorization, temporary visa, or work permit.
