Kaotar Fakih: understanding the impact of AI on managers

Kaotar Fakih, a PhD student in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, and an MSc graduate in Organizational Development, has received the Obvia Next Generation Scholarship ($25,000 for one year, with the possibility of two renewals) for the quality of her research project and her academic record.

This scholarship program, which was established in 2019, aims to encourage the best candidates from the college to doctoral level to undertake or pursue research on the societal impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology, as well as on responsible innovation.

In her research project entitled “Entre jugement humain et décision algorithmique : repenser le rôle des gestionnaires” [Between Human Judgment and Algorithmic Decision-Making: Rethinking the Role of Managers], Kaotar Fakih examines the impact of AI tools on managers. She explores how the latter’s autonomy, professional identity, skills and mental health can be transformed by such tools, and how these experiences vary across career stages.
