HEC Montréal takes the podium in Oslo

February 19, 2026

A student delegation from HEC Montréal’s bachelor of business administration program (B.A.A.), composed of Corinne Lavallée, Guillaume Payette, Ella Peschlow and Alicia Ponce, bagged second place at the BI International Case Competition.

This high-level competition, which took place from February 6 to 13, 2026 in Oslo, brought together teams from 12 of the best business schools in the world to solve two strategic cases involving two Norwegian companies in the maritime transportation sector:

  • The first challenge was to redesign Astrup Fearnley Group’s revenue portfolio for 2036, with the goal of ensuring sustainable, diversified and capital-efficient growth, given technological disruption and regulatory changes.
  • The second challenge involved proposing creative ways for Höegh Autoliners to review its energy supply model in order to build a diversified and decarbonized portfolio of fuels.

The HEC Montréal delegation, which was accompanied by Anne Bourhis from the University Competition Service, performed particularly well in the second case, with judges praising the quality of their presentation and analysis, as well as the innovative yet realistic nature of the recommendations.

The University Competition Service would like to thank everyone who was involved in coaching these students, as well as the HEC Montréal Alumni Association for its financial support.
