Conductors: The Art of Leadership
Last Thursday, Professor Pierre-Olivier Pineau from HEC Montréal’s Department of Decision Sciences was awarded the 2024 Hubert-Reeves Prize.
This unique literary competition which was created in 2010 rewards the best French-language works that popularize science. The Association des communicateurs scientifiques du Québec (ACS) presented the “General Public” Award to Professor Pineau for his book entitled L’équilibre énergétique.
Published by Éditions Robert Laffont in February 2023, this book addresses the essential elements required by us to understand energy consumption, achieve a sustainable energy balance, and improve our quality of life, both individually and collectively.
Pierre-Olivier Pineau holds an MA in Philosophy from Université de Montréal and a PhD in Administration from HEC Montréal. He has been teaching at the School’s Department of Decision Sciences since 2006 and has held the Chair in Energy Sector Management since 2014.

An energy policy specialist, he has published many papers exploring the links between energy and some aspects of sustainable development, and has also authored several book chapters, books and research reports. He is a CIRANO Fellow and regularly participates in public debates.
