“We can only grasp the importance and validity of what we are studying when we get involved on campus and in associations. We often mistakenly think that a huge amount of extracurricular involvement will harm our studies, but in my opinion, it is quite the opposite. Such involvement is a priceless addition.”

Scholarships to recognize leadership

Designed to encourage purposeful leadership, the scholarships are the result of a landmark $200 million gift in 2019 by John and Marcy McCall MacBain, the second-largest single donation in Canadian history.

Recipients have all been chosen on the basis of their personality, sense of civic duty, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity.

The McCall MacBain program and McGill University have also offered 96 entrance awards ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to the most deserving candidates who were not selected for the cohort. A total of 126 scholarships were awarded this year.

Scholars may begin applying for the Fall 2024 admission in June 2023.
