This year, Céline Marcotte, former Director General of the Théâtre du Rideau Vert, won the Career Award. Roxanne Sayegh, Executive Director of Cinéma Cinéma, won the Young Cultural Manager Award. These awards were presented at the Soirée Horizons, which was organized in collaboration with the Montréal Junior Chamber of Commerce and Culture Montréal.

Céline Marcotte: revitalizing the Théâtre du Rideau Vert for a lasting impact

When Céline Marcotte was appointed Director General of the Théâtre du Rideau Vert in 2008, she took over the oldest professional French theatre company still running in Canada. This theatre was facing significant financial and organizational challenges at the time.

She spearheaded a complete overhaul by setting up a perpetual fund and overseeing the reconstruction and modernization of its facilities. All the equipment was also upgraded.

Along with artistic director Denise Filiatrault, she revived subscriptions and attracted new audiences.

The jury hailed “the outstanding career of an equally humble and efficient behind-the-scenes manager,” who has long been dedicated to serving the performing arts.

Roxanne Sayegh: securing the future of three repertory cinemas

Since 2022, Roxanne Sayegh has served as Executive Director of the brand Cinéma Cinéma, which represents Cinéma Beaubien, Cinéma du Parc and Cinéma du Musée.

She manages several key projects, which include extensive renovations, equipment acquisition and the implementation of new business models.

While Quebec has witnessed a general decline in the number of cinema goers, attendance in these three cinemas has increased under her leadership. The jury highlighted a triumphant succession, marked by rigour, innovation and a concern for the future.
