International immersion trips take off again: an MBA delegation returns to the United Arab Emirates
May 24, 2022
After a 2-year break because of the pandemic, the Campus Abroad program, offering HEC Montréal students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an international business environment, started up again this spring.
A first cohort of 20 MBA students, supervised by Professor Johanne Brunet, spent a dozen days in the United Arab Emirates in early May.
The group arrived in Dubai on May 2 and spent 8 days there, before visiting the capital, Abu Dhabi, until May 14.
The students went on several company tours and met with the heads of organizations in a variety of sectors, ranging from government to education, finance, aerospace, media and logistics.
The trip included cultural activities, such as city tours and visits to museums. The students also met with HEC Montréal alumni based in the Emirates, in Dubai, to encourage networking.
Seeing business from a different perspective
The Campus Abroad experience, equivalent to an intensive 3-credit course, is more than a trip – it’s a chance to absorb the economic, cultural and social environment of another country for 2 weeks.
In the Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood of Dubai.
Other Campus Abroad courses are planned for this spring and summer as part of the School’s programs, in particular to the United States and Germany.
