A centre devoted to female leadership at the HEC Montréal Sports Hub

May 19, 2021

The HEC Montréal Sports Hub is creating an Espace leadership féminin (Women’s Leadership Centre) that will work to promote gender equity and the advancement of women to senior positions in the Quebec sports industry. Starting in fall 2021, participants will be able to count on support from a number of experienced ambassadors.

Promoting gender equity in leadership positions

Things are improving in Quebec, but there are still few women in decision-making positions in sports organizations. While there have been plenty of ideas put forward to change this situation, year after year they remain only proposals.

Giving women lasting tools and inspiration

The goal is to give women the career development tools and inspiration they need to gain access to positions at all levels, including on boards of directors. The new initiative will help boost the number of women in management and produce a measurable impact leading to lasting change in gender equity.

The Centre, to focus on training, research and knowledge transfer, will officially be launched this fall. Activities will be announced over the next few months. One of its priorities will be to work in collaboration with leading community figures.

11 inspiring ambassadors

The Centre will be supported by a network of ambassadors, starting with:

They are all determined to carve out larger roles for women in sports organizations. For instance, they will help future leaders by inspiring women in their career development, sharing their stories and values or acting as mentors.
