The HEC Montréal Master’s programs do well in the 2019 rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) of Britain. The MBA remains the 6th-best program in Canada, while on the international scene it stands between 101st and 110th, out of a total of 251 programs ranked.

The Master’s in Finance (including data for the Master’s in Financial Engineering) comes in 63rd out of 158 programs worldwide, and the Master’s in International Business is 75th out of 135 in the ranking of Master’s in Management programs.

Two new entries this year – the Master’s in Marketing and the Master’s in Business Analytics – both stand at 51st in their respective rankings. The Master’s in Marketing rankings considered 70 programs worldwide, and the ranking of Master’s in Business Analytics programs looked at 75.

Reputation and Impact

The School received high marks for its research reputation and impact in these rankings. This criterion is based on the votes of 200,000 university professors surveyed in 60 countries around the globe, as well as the research productivity of the School’s faculty.

Employability

This criterion is based on the responses of tens of thousands of employers asked for their opinion on the program and its graduates. The HEC Montréal MBA has a slight comparative advantage in this regard over the other MBAs ranked by QS.

Considering tuition fees and the opportunity cost of studying at HEC Montréal, as compared to its graduates’ salary increases and career advancement, the Master’s in Finance and in Business Analytics outperformed the average of the other programs in these rankings.

The Master’s in Finance and in Business Analytics also stand out in terms of this criterion, which evaluates gender diversity in the program and the international mix of the student body and faculty.
