Supply Chain Analytics and Applied Artificial Intelligence

OPER 60500A
This course covers the concepts, analytical tools, and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches applied to the supply chain. The topics include descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, as well as the use of generative artificial intelligence to accelerate the development, explanation, and adaptation of analytical solutions.
In particular, the themes addressed include retail analytics, distribution analytics, and the management of disruptions in the supply chain. The course places particular emphasis on the integration of artificial intelligence, both for modelling logistics problems and for AI-assisted programming. Students will acquire analytical and practical skills to apply these methods in various sectors such as manufacturing, retail, omnichannel commerce and transportation. Python is the central language for implementation, while tools such as Power BI complement the learning. This course also uses generative AI tools to demonstrate how such analytical tools can be built. In teams, students will develop prototypes of analytical tools for the supply chain.
Themes covered

Introduction to Analytics and AI in Supply Chains (Key definitions potential applications risks and responsibilities)
Descriptive Supply Chain Analytics (metrics and key performance indicators data visualization introduction to unsupervised learning and building interactive dashboards with Power BI)
Predictive Supply Chain Analytics (demand forecasting using external data sources with an introduction to supervised learning methods)
Prescriptive Supply Chain (analytics Inventory and pricing optimization online fulfillment optimization along with the formulation and solution of optimization models)
Managing Supply Chain Uncertainty (simulation and stochastic optimization pre-event risk mitigation strategies and post-event recovery planning)
Hands-on Programming Workshops with Python and Generative AI (introduction to Python; programming basic analytical pipelines; understanding and adapting complex analytical pipelines; using GAI to debug and generate code)
