The EGOS colloquium in Montreal: first time in North America

Montreal, Quebec, July 3, 2013 - HEC Montréal and the Université de Montréal will be hosting the 29th Colloquium of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) from July 4 to 6. The European association of professors and researchers specializing in organizational management and the social sciences, one of the world’s largest, has chosen to hold its annual colloquium in North America for the first time ever. Over 1,600 researchers from 46 countries will be meeting on the theme of “Bridging Continents, Cultures and Worldviews.”
The event will feature a number of internationally renowned figures, including Henry Mintzberg and Andrew J. Hoffman, who will be speaking on the issue of rebalancing society by bridging the private, public and plural sectors in a capitalist economy and on the role of corporations in sustainability, respectively.
In addition, researchers in different fields will be invited to present their findings on a wide range of subjects, from managing diversity to corporate social responsibility, corruption, leadership, health care, and creativity and innovation in business.
Hosting this Colloquium highlights the reputations of HEC Montréal and the Université de Montréal as centres of research and knowledge creation on the international scene.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to spark discussions and collaboration among researchers from both continents,” says Ann Langley, Chair of the EGOS Organizing Committee and Professor with the Management Department at HEC Montréal. “And as the university capital of Canada, Montreal is the ideal city to welcome all these leading researchers.”
