HEC Montréal takes the podium at the Lazaridis School International Case Competition

October 24, 2025

HEC Montréal has distinguished itself on the international scene yet again by winning 3rd place at the Lazaridis School International Case Competition. This student competition organized by Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, took place from October 12 to 17, 2025. The team, comprising Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students Sacha Kalogerakis-Larue, William Muckle, Bianca Pelletier-Normandin and Marième Sall, was coached by Anne Bourhis, Director of the University Competitions Service.

During the qualifying round, HEC Montréal faced University of Technology Sydney (Australia) and University of Berkeley (USA). For the first case, which was provided by Greenshield Ventures, the team proposed the creation of a range of services dedicated to women’s health, from puberty to menopause. This bold proposal, which reflected the company’s social mission, helped the team rise to the top of its division.

The second case, featuring Canadian retailer Roots, presented the major challenge of designing an expansion strategy in China, while adhering to the brand’s core values. The HEC Montréal team developed a solid strategic approach in 12 hours, which earned them a spot in the finals.

After a highly competitive presentation, HEC Montréal finished 3rd, behind Copenhagen (1st) and Alberta (2nd). Two individual awards were also added to this collective success: Marième Sall won the Best Speaker Award, while Professor Anne Bourhis received the Best Faculty Advisor Award.
