UdeM and its affiliated schools among the world’s top 50 in sustainable development

The Université de Montréal and its affiliated schools are ranked 42nd in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023, which measure universities’ contributions to sustainable development. This represents 39 places higher than last year’s 81st ranking.
This ranking assesses the actions taken by universities to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals devised by the United Nations. Scores are calculated using bibliometric measures, institutional data, and answers to qualitative questions.
This year, the Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal stood out for their achievements related to the following goals:
- No poverty
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
- Partnerships for the Goals*
The 2023 Impact Rankings is the fifth edition, and the overall ranking includes nearly 1600 universities from 112 countries/regions.
