Jean-Charles Chebat and Haithem Zourrig Share in a Best Paper Award from the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences

Jean-Charles Chebat,holder of the Chair of Commercial Space and Customer Service Management, and Haithem Zourrig, a doctoral student at HEC Montréal, are two of the four co-authors presented with the Best Paper Award from the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences (ASBBS) in the multicultural issues category.

The article, entitled “In-Group Favoritism” and “Out-Group Prejudice”?  Customers’ Coping with Interpersonal Conflicts in Intra- and Inter-Cultural Service Encounters”, was co-written with Professors Roy Toffoli, of ESG UQAM, and Alexandra Medina-Borja, of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.

The award will be presented at the 17th ASBBS Annual Meeting, to be held in Las Vegas from February 18 to 21.

This is Professor Chebat’s 13th best paper award. Haithem Zourrig, whose doctoral thesis Professor Chebat is co-directing, was awarded a dissertation proposal grant from the Association for Consumer Research and the Sheth Foundation last fall.

Jean-Charles Chebat is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a knight of the Ordre national du Québec and holder of an honorary PhD from the Université de Rennes.
