Strategy and Internationalization

INTE 50003A
Executives are challenged to seek new markets, strategic assets, and operational efficiency as their firms grow. This course explores internationalization as a mechanism to achieve such goals. By studying differences across countries, students learn how firms can internationalize successfully through the effective management of differences.
Executives of firms that have or will internationalize must possess a global mindset to face the inherent challenges of managing across borders. In this course, we investigate the challenges and opportunities of internationalization by answering the questions : if, why, when, where, and how? In this course, students will study both small and large firms, to appreciate the complexities of internationalization, and seek solutions to manage differences. The course concludes with a personal reflection on global mindset and how it can be developed (in self and others).
