One-on-one Tutoring in English (in the Age of AI)

In a context where technology has made text generation more accessible, the ability to structure ideas, communicate with clarity and rigour, and exercise critical judgment remains a distinguishing competency. One-on-one tutoring directly supports the development of these skills.

The tutoring service is designed to support the development of sustainable communication skills, complementing the use of digital tools. Through personalized guidance, you will be able to:

• structure your ideas more clearly and coherently
• improve the linguistic quality of your written work and oral presentations
• enhance the precision and relevance of your spoken and written communication
• develop a thoughtful and critical approach to the use of artificial intelligence tools

OVERVIEW

• Free service offered to all HEC Montréal students who are non-native speakers with at least an intermediate level of English. If you are unsure of your language level, you can take a free English placement test here.
• Four individual sessions over four weeks with a tutor specializing in English-language instruction
• Tutoring offered in person at the Language Centre (formerly CFLA) or remotely via Zoom or Teams
• Appointments available according to your availability: daytime, evening, or weekends
• Important! Any tutoring session cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be considered forfeited.

AVAILABILITY

• Fall semester: September – November
• Winter semester: January – April
• Tutoring is not available during the summer.
