An HEC Montréal Professor (1969–1976) and Chair of the Corporation de l'École des hautes études commerciales (1981–1984), he had a prolific career in academia and business. He acquired Casavant Frères in 1980 and served as President and CEO of the Unigesco investment firm, and went on to head Provigo (1989–1993). He later returned to teaching at HEC Montréal, where he has been an Adjunct Professor since 1997.
