The TAGE MAGE Admission Test

Definition

TAGE MAGE is an admissions test that measures the skills of applicants seeking to begin or continue pursuing business studies. It assesses verbal, problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.

Preparing for the test

We encourage you to prepare for the test using texts that can be found at the Coop, at the School’s library or in the online resources in the section “Se préparer” on the TAGE MAGE website.

Taking the test

You have the opportunity to take the TAGE MAGE test twice in a calendar year:

  • once between January and June
  • once between July and December

If you have a disability and require accommodations to take the test, please consult the TAGE MAGE page (in French).

Test sessions are held at the Walter Capital room from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Late arrivals are not accepted. If you arrive after the test has started, you will have to buy another ticket for a later session.

Registration

You can register online using secure payment. Registration is possible even if you are not applying to HEC Montréal.

Registrations to come

Registrations will be available in July.

Reimbursement

You can cancel your registration and obtain a refund of the ticket price (excluding the service charge of $14.85) by writing to reg.examen@hec.ca no later than the registration deadline of the testAfter this deadline, no reimbursements will be made.

Transfert

You can change the date of your test with no additional fees by going to the online registration platform no later than the registration deadline of the test for which you initially registered.

If you wish to postpone your test after the last date posted on the site, please write to reg.examen@hec.ca. We will reimburse you for the cost of the ticket, excluding ticketing fees. You will receive confirmation by e-mail. You will have to purchase a new ticket when the new dates are posted.

Score

Test score is considered an important part of your application for the Master’s Degrees, MBA and PhD.

MBA: The evaluation of your application includes not only your test score, but also other elements such as your transcripts. That said, a balanced score of 300 (or higher) could strengthen your application.

Availability

You will receive an email explaining how to view your test result online a few days after the test.

Transmission

You are responsible for submitting your result to the university to which you are applying.

Validity

Your result is valid for five years starting from the date you took the test.
