Lallemand donates $1 million to HEC Montréal
To be used to create an international business fund
Jeudi 11 décembre 2014
As part of the Campus Montréal fundraising campaign, HEC Montréal is pleased to announce that it has received a generous gift from Lallemand Inc., to be used to create the Lallemand – Marcel and Roland Chagnon Fund, which will finance a professorship in international business, along with international exchange and international entrepreneurship scholarships to foster students’ international mobility.
A professor in the HEC Montréal Department of International Business will be appointed to the Lallemand – Marcel and Roland Chagnon Professorship, allowing him or her to pursue research in this field.
Professors in the Department of International Business carry out research in line with the School’s priorities and reflecting the changing characteristics of the globalization of business and international trade. The research is conducted with the goal of allowing Quebec firms to create and maintain global networks and ensure Quebec’s continued excellence worldwide.
“This donation by Lallemand to our institution is a clear sign of the value the company places on promoting research and Quebec’s position on the international industrial and commercial stage,” says HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry. “By encouraging access to higher studies through scholarships, Lallemand is paving the way for international success for future managers fascinated by the interdependence of nations, the strategic issues related to internationalization and innovation, and global social development.”
This donation is another in the series of donations by Lallemand to HEC Montréal and funds it has created in recent decades.
“In today's globalized environment, geographic mobility for managers has become essential, since they are key to a company’s international business development,” explains Jean F. Chagnon, President of Lallemand. “Canadian companies that want to develop their business elsewhere in the world have to recruit employees interested in taking on international assignments, and then make these missions part of their career development plans. With this new donation, Lallemand is pleased to encourage HEC Montréal to give these future managers the tools they need and teach them how to conduct business abroad.”
