A record amount for the 50th Centraide campaign at HEC Montréal

December 15, 2023

HEC Montréal far exceeded its initial goal of $170,000 and set a new record for generosity by raising over $222,000 for Centraide of Greater Montréal.

The internal campaign, which ran from November 20 to December 1, was co-chaired by Isabelle Le Breton-Miller, Professor in the Department of Management, and François Dunn, Director of the Facilities Management Service. The purpose of this fundraising activity was to support Centraide in its mission to combat poverty and social exclusion. Centraide supports a network of more than 375 community organizations and projects, which in turn help the most vulnerable people in society.

This year marked the 50th Centraide campaign and 50 years of the School’s involvement in this cause. Members of the vast HEC Montréal family displayed tremendous compassion and generosity with their exemplary commitment in response to the appeal for solidarity:

“Our slogan, Where Every Helping Hand Matters, proved prophetic. Such an outpouring of concern for the Greater Montréal community that we all belong to, is truly heartwarming. Our colleagues demonstrated unfailing generosity and commitment during the School’s 50th campaign. Thank you so much, everyone!”

2023 highlights

More than 400 donors contributed to the internal campaign, including 350 staff and faculty members. In addition, 19 donors joined the Centraide Leaders’ Circle, whose members each pledge a minimum of $1,200. HEC Montréal now has 70 Leaders within its community, including all those who renewed their annual commitment.

Several activities were back this year: spaghetti lunch, street musicians, morning coffee, and round table on the housing crisis, not to mention the benefit show on December 6, showcasing the talents of many staff members and students. Songs, music, dance, public speaking, and humor: everything was in place to celebrate the commitment of our community and thereby conclude the 2023 campaign in style.
