International recognition for our sustainable development performance
Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022

The Université de Montréal and its affiliated schools stand 81st in the world and 14th in Canada in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022, which measure universities’ contributions to sustainable development.
The methodology for the rankings is based on the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Participating universities are awarded a score reflecting the articles in the Scopus dataset and the actions they have taken to reach 4 of the UN goals, 3 of which are chosen by the institutions themselves.
This year, the Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal were evaluated on the basis of the following goals:
- No poverty
- Good health and well-being
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure
- Partnerships (required for all institutions)
These rankings, now in their 4th year, include over 1,400 universities from 106 countries and regions.
