Market Secrets #7 - Culture, Sports and Entertainment

“Market Secrets” is a series of events, each covering different industries, offering informal meetings with mentors who have inspiring careers.

For the March 11 edition, we're looking for seasoned professionals in the world of sports, experts in the leisure and tourism industry and professionals from cultural organisation working in different environments (large and small companies, agencies, start-ups, entrepreneurship, government, public service...) and in a variety of professions.

Example of areas of expertise represented: museums, festivals, tourism, music, dance, theater, heritage, circus, sports management, wearable tech, e-sports, gaming, mixed reality entertainment, social media platforms, content sharing, media...


Mentors' Mission

  • No formal presentation is required
  • Introduce yourself, talk about your background and your profession, your interest in the field, share advice with the student community, and answer their questions


Format

Each mentor meets successively with small groups of 1 to 3 students around a table.


Location

Hélène-Desmarais building (downtown), conference center Claude-Séguin (A.373, 3rd floor)


Event schedule

  • 4:30 PM : arrival of mentors
  • 4:45 PM : arrival of students 
  • 5:15 to 5:35 PM : welcome speech
  • 5:35 PM to 7:15 PM : student/mentor meetings
  • 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM : open networking time between students and mentors over cocktails and appetizers 


Students' Profile

  • Second-cycle students (DESS, M.Sc., MBA, etc.) with a keen interest in the fields presented 
  • The event will nonetheless be open to all HEC Montréal students 
  • Registration will be required to participate 
  • Students will have reviewed the list of mentors beforehand and will thus be able to come prepared with specific issues or questions
