Market Secrets #5 - Sustainable Development, Social Impact and Governance

“Market Secrets” is a series of events, each covering different industries, offering informal meetings with mentors who have inspiring careers.

For the November 19 edition, we're looking for sustainability experts, seasoned governance professionals, and social impact specialists working in different environments (large and small companies, agencies, start-ups, entrepreneurship, government, public service and associations...) and in a variety of profession.

Example of areas of expertise represented: circular economy, foundations, clean technologies, renewable energies, ESG, biodynamic agriculture, Impact Investing, public policy, sustainable city planning.


Mentors' Mission

  • No formal presentation is required
  • Introduce yourself, talk about your background and your profession, your interest in the field, share advice with the student community, and answer their questions


Format

Each mentor meets successively with small groups of 1 to 3 students around a table.


Location

Hélène-Desmarais building (downtown), conference center Claude-Séguin (A.373, 3rd floor)


Event schedule

  • 4:30 PM : arrival of mentors
  • 4:45 PM : arrival of students 
  • 5:15 to 5:35 PM : welcome speech
  • 5:35 PM to 7:15 PM : student/mentor meetings
  • 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM : open networking time between students and mentors over cocktails and appetizers 


Students' Profile

  • Second-cycle students (DESS, M.Sc., MBA, etc.) with a keen interest in the fields presented 
  • The event will nonetheless be open to all HEC Montréal students 
  • Registration will be required to participate 
  • Students will have reviewed the list of mentors beforehand and will thus be able to come prepared with specific issues or questions
