Applying for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ)

About the CAQ

  • The CAQ serves as a provincial attestation letter (PAL).
  • It must include the name “HEC Montréal” since it is associated with your educational institution.
  • It must be used to apply for your study permit.

Fill out a CAQ application online

Go to the Quebec governement website to fill out an application for temporary selection for studies (CAQ application) and create your online profile. You have 1 hour to pay the application fee once you have completed the application.

Check out our tutorial (PDF, 3 MB) to help you navigate the process.

When filling out the requested information, it is important to include the following:

  1. Your level of studies as indicated on your admission letter.
  2. A breakdown of tuition fees as indicated in your admission letter.
  3. Program start and end dates, as indicated in the table below (including an additional 3 months to complete the post-graduation work permit application process).
    • BBA with a preparatory year: even though these dates are indicated, you may receive a CAQ and a study permit valid only for the duration of the preparatory year, and you will need to renew these documents from within Canada before they expire.

Paying the application fee and submitting the required documents

Once you have completed your application, you must pay for your CAQ application and submit the required documents. To do so, you will need to switch between two platforms (your online account and the Arrima platform). Be sure to use the same first and last name in both places.
