A Professor at the School (1975–1984 and since 2010) and Director of the Institute of Applied Economics (1976–1981), today he is an Adjunct Professor and chairs the Board of the Montreal Institute of Structured Finance and Derivatives. He devoted part of his career to teaching and research in economics and management. A former President of the National Bank of Canada, he is also an entrepreneur and winegrower.
