HEC Montréal-Darlington residence

Our university residence houses 40 renters who are international students or from outside Montréal. These are primarily undergraduate (BBA) students in their first or preparatory year.

A turnkey concept

The tenants and the Services à la communauté étudiante team work hard to offer young students a variety of activities in a safe environment. New students adjust to university life and the HEC Montréal community within the first year of study.

The offer includes:

  • 9-month lease (basic rental period: mid-August to mid-May)
  • Private room in an apartment with 1 or 2 roommates, not co-ed
  • Fully furnished: stove, refrigerator, microwave, dining room furniture, air conditioner in the living room, sofa, loveseat, TV screen, full bedroom furniture, desk, table fan, desk lamp
  • Wi-Fi, heating and electricity included in the price of the lease
  • Fitness room, common room
  • Laundry facilities (washer and dryer) also provided at the residence (free)
  • Storage locker in basement
  • Near the metro and the sports center (CEPSUM)

Apartments

The residence offers 5 apartment layouts on 3 floors with 2 to 3 bedrooms each. The Residence does not have rooms suitable for people with reduced mobility. The different layouts are presented below. The apartments are not co-ed unless a special request is made or in exceptional circumstances. For the 2026-2027 school year, room prices range from $1,045 to $1,350 per month (9-month lease).

How to reserve a room

  • Pre-reservation event: Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis! This first step consists of completing our online application (link coming soon).
  • Application processing: Applications from international students or students from outside Montréal and who are in the first year or preparatory year of a bachelor's program (BBA) will be prioritized according to the order in which the applications are received.
  • Confirmation or wait list: You will receive an email within 48 business hours of the pre-reservation event.
  • Confirmation deposit: A few days after this confirmation, a deposit equivalent to one month's rent is required. This amount will be refunded (minus applicable bank fees) only if the student chooses not to study at HEC Montréal or if their application is not accepted.

The neighborhood

The HEC Montréal-Darlington residence is located in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, just steps away from the School. It will open the door to a world of possibilities for international students and those from outside Montréal. A number of activities designed specifically for residents make this an ideal place to meet new people and discover life in Montréal.

Safety

Choosing the residence is opting for a safe living environment that is managed with the needs of each resident in mind:

  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Residence advisors dedicated to resident support
  • Welcome and integration ensured by the Services à la communauté étudiante team
  • 24-hour camera surveillance of all entrances
  • Daily visit by security agents
  • Repair team (plumbing, electricity, heating, etc.)
