• Il a complété deux mandats à titre de directeur de son département, soit de 2004 à 2007 et de 2011 à 2014. Il a été également directeur du groupe de recherche CHAÎNE sur l’intégration et l’environnement de la chaîne d’approvisionnement ainsi que fondateur et directeur du Carrefour Logistique, un forum regroupant des cadres supérieurs de l’industrie et des spécialistes de la logistique à HEC Montréal de 2004 à sa retraite en 2025. Il a aussi assumé la direction du programme de MBA de 2009 à 2010 et la direction du module d’Excellence opérationnelle du programme EMBA McGill – HEC Montréal de 2008 à 2012.
• Il a reçu plusieurs prix pour ses réalisations à HEC Montréal. Il a remporté le Prix d’impact en recherche attribué par HEC Montréal pour la première fois en 2023. Ce prix visait à reconnaître les retombées exceptionnelles d’un projet de recherche qu’il a mené en collaboration avec des collègues du Groupe de recherche CHAÎNE sur la crise de gestion des équipements de protection individuelle dans le réseau québécois de la santé durant les premiers mois de la pandémie du COVID-19. Il a également remporté le Grand Prix de pédagogique pour les professeurs titulaires (Prix Jean-Guertin) décerné en 2020, soulignant ainsi le caractère exceptionnel de ses activités d’enseignement au cours de sa carrière à HEC Montréal.
• Au cours de sa carrière, il a développé et de maintenu à jour des programmes universitaires qui répondent aux besoins et préoccupations du milieu professionnel et de la société. Pour ce faire, il n’a pas hésité à tisser des liens étroits avec le milieu en participant activement à des organismes tels la Fondation pour la formation professionnelle en transport des marchandises, l’Institut pour la formation en transport et logistique et en créant le Carrefour Logistique de HEC Montréal qui se veut un lieu de rencontre avec les décideurs du secteur de la logistique au Québec. Voici quelques exemples de programmes qu’il a contribué à créer : DESS en gestion de la chaîne logistique ; M.Sc. en logistique internationale ; EMBA McGill – HEC Montréal
• Il a contribué à la production de 21 études de cas avec notes pédagogiques dans son domaine d’expertise dont 16 ont été publiés dans la Revue internationale de cas en gestion. Un de ses cas s’est mérité le Prix du meilleur cas publié dans la Revue internationale de cas en gestion en 2016 – 2017.
• Il est un spécialiste reconnu dans les domaines de la logistique et de la gestion du transport. Il possède plusieurs années d’expérience en tant que conseiller en gestion auprès d’importantes corporations canadiennes ainsi que différents ministères, incluant Transports Canada, Industrie Canada et le ministère des Transports du Québec. Il a notamment enseigné dans le cadre du programme de MBA en aérospatiale de l’ESC- Toulouse. Il a aussi été appelé à agir comme témoin expert dans différentes causes reliées aux aéroports et aux transports. Il a dirigé de nombreuses études et est l’auteur d’une centaine d’ouvrages et articles sur ces sujets. Il est régulièrement invité comme conférencier lors d’événements à caractère national et international.

• He started out as a teaching intern for the 1982-1983 school year and was a lecturer de 1985 to 1989.
• He was appointed associate professor in 1997 and full professor in 2003.
• From 2001 to 2006, he was Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Gestion journal.
• From 2009 to 2012, he was Director of the Department of Accounting Studies.
• The year 2012 brought an important milestone for the accounting profession. The three professional orders–CA, CMA, and CGA–merged to create a new designation: the CPA. This event had a significant impact on the training programs for becoming a certified public accountant. Mr. Vézina served as an academic supervisor for the specialized graduate diploma (D.E.S.S.) – CPA program during a period of major changes in the professional world (2012–2013) and developed a new program accredited by the CPA Order.
• From 2013 to 2019, he was Director of Certificate Programs.

• Réal Jacob was Director of the Department of Management from 2003 to 2006.
• He co-founded the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, in which he taught until January 2019. He continues to provide training for HEC Montréal’s Executive Education, including in the Ascension Program for Aspiring Executives.
• As Director of Executive Development and Training, Professor Jacob, along with former HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry, was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the School’s first research and knowledge transfer centres. He also gave over 600 talks on knowledge transfer for decision makers and professionals from various fields of practice, both here and abroad.
• He was conferred the Canadian Leaders in Management Education Award in 1999, the 2012 Innovation & Knowledge Transfer Award from CEFRIO, and the Esdras Minville and Roger Charbonneau Awards from HEC Montréal in 2015.
• In 2020, Réal Jacob was promoted to Vice-Chair of the Board of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture (FRQSC).

• Ann Langley was a Full Professor in HEC Montréal’s Department of Management. 
• From 2008 to 2020, she also held the Chair in Strategic Management in Pluralistic Settings.
• She has received many awards and distinctions over the course of her career, including three honorary doctorates, from the University of St. Gallen, in Switzerland, the Norwegian School of Economics, and the Aalto School of Business, in Finland.
• She has been a fellow of the Academy of Management since 2017 and a member of the Royal Society of Canada (Academy of Social Sciences) since 2010.
• Ann Langley’s work on qualitative methodologies and other subjects is used around the world and has been abundantly cited—over 25,000 times, according to Google Scholar.

• He was promoted to Full Professor in 1986, and also held the Canada Research Chair in Distribution Management from 2001 to 2020, when he retired from HEC Montréal.
• He is the world’s most widely cited researcher in his specialization. His extensive body of work includes a vast number of scientific publications—he has authored or co-authored 20 books and more than 550 articles.
• He directed over 100 master’s theses and doctoral dissertations and some 30 postdoctoral internships. His pedagogical skills were recognized in 2001, when he received the Grand Prize for Teaching Excellence from HEC Montréal.
• He received a host of awards and distinctions throughout his career and has been a member of the Order of Canada since 2018 and the Royal Society of Canada since 1998.

This expert in the economics of organizations and regulation held a number of senior administrative positions at the School. He was Director of the PhD program (1991 to 1995), Director of Research (1995 to 1998), and Assistant Director of Faculty and Strategic Planning (2001 to 2005).

Michel Patry was made a Full Professor in 1999 and became the 10th Director of HEC Montréal on September 1, 2006.

His achievements include creating several hubs of excellence and institutes, the McGill–HEC Montréal EMBA and Executive Education, developing a world-class ecosystem supporting entrepreneurship and innovation at HEC Montréal, creating the HEC Montréal Foundation, and launching the School’s new downtown building.

He spent his entire career as a professor at the School, which he joined in 1974 as a teaching intern.

• A member of the Academic Council starting in 1995, he spent just over 15 years as a faculty representative, department director and MBA Program Director.
• He also sat on the School’s Board of Directors for six years as a faculty representative.
• He rose to the rank of Full Professor in 2001. From 2003 to 2009, he served as Director of the School’s MBA program, during which time it rose steadily in international rankings, and helped introduce the first Campus Abroad course. In 2010, he created the all-new Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre (direction de l’apprentissage et de l’innovation pédagogique, DAIP).
• He piloted several strategic projects for the School, such as the creation of EDUlib.
• In 2016, he received the Jean-Guertin Award for Teaching Excellence from the School, in recognition of his lengthy career devoted to development and innovation in pedagogy.

Louis Jacques Filion became a professor at HEC Montréal in 1993 and held the Rogers – J.A. Bombardier Chair of Entrepreneurship from 1995 until he retired in 2016. He contributed to more than 100 publications, including some 20 books. His research focused primarily on the business systems of entrepreneurs and on innovative and visionary processes. He received numerous awards and distinctions, including:

• Lifetime Achievement Award (2004) – CCSBE (Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship).
• Wilford White Fellow (2005) - ICSB (International Council for Small Business).
• Mérite Promotion de l'entrepreneuriat (2008) – Gouvernement du Québec.

Henri Barki was a Professor at HEC Montréal from 1989 until his retirement in June 2017. He held the Canada Research Chair in Implementing and Managing Information Technology from 2003 to 2017, as well as several senior administration positions, including that of Director of Research from 1998-2001. He authored a number of publications on information systems and supervised over 40 master’s and doctoral students. 

A Professor, researcher and retailing expert (1981–2016), he is one of Quebec's best-known specialists in his field. He founded the RBC Financial Group Chair of E-Commerce and directed it from 2002 to 2007, as well as serving as Secretary General, Director of the Marketing Department, Director of Academic Programs and holder of the Omer DeSerres Chair of Retailing. Today, he is Director of Alliances HEC Montréal-entreprises.

He was a Professor at the School (1981-2013) and the founder and first Director of the Case Centre (1999-2002). The first holder of the Pierre Péladeau Chair in Leadership (2001–2013), he was interested in the management of cultural organizations, the influence of managers' personalities on their leadership styles, and in the management behaviours that lead to success or failure. An exceptional communicator, he was also Editor-in-Chief of the Gestion journal (1988–1989 and 1993–1997).

Jean-Charles Chebat held the Chair of Commercial Space and Customer Service at HEC Montréal. He published some 200 articles in prestigious journals in the fields of social, environmental, economic, and consumer psychology, as well as 6 books and 11 book chapters.

A frequent guest speaker around the world, he was a Fellow of prestigious scientific societies (Royal Society of Canada—RSC, Academy of Marketing Science, Society for Marketing Advances, American Psychological Association). He was the first marketing researcher to be elected president of the RSC's Academy of Social Sciences, and he has supervised roughly 120 master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

He received HEC Montréal’s Jean-Guertin Award (teaching) in 2013, the Pierre-Laurin Award (research) in 1997 and again in 2003, the Leaders in Business Research and Practices Award in 2004 and 2011 from Carleton University, 15 awards for his articles (U.S., Canada, and Europe), the Jacques-Rousseau medal from ACFAS, the Sir John William Dawson medal from the RSC, and an honorary doctorate degree from Université de Rennes I in 2005. He was conferred the title of Knight of the Ordre national du Québec in 2004.

Among other roles, she served as editor-in-chief of the journal Gestion from 1986 to 1993 and as Director of the Department of Management from 1993 to 1999. She currently presides over the Faculty Ethics Committee and the Retirees Association. She has made significant contributions to education and science. Notable among these is her book, Le management stratégique : de l’analyse à l’action, which won her the Grand Prix du livre d’affaires 2009.

Her influence has extended far beyond academia to reach professional fields both domestically and abroad. She has been president of the Association canadienne des anthropologues et sociologues de langue française, of the ACFAS executive committee, and the Observatoire de la culture et des communications du Québec. She has been a member of the Conseil des universités du Québec, an expert committee on income security reform, and several boards of directors, including that of ÉNAP. For 17 years, she served as an education consultant for the Canadian International Development Agency. At HEC, she served as Academic Director of the African Development Bank’s executive education program.

Among other roles, he helped create the Department of Human Resources Management, which he directed from 1992 to 1998. From 1988 to 1994, he served as director of Parapedagogical Services, a member of the Executive Committee, and a guest member of the School’s Board of Directors. From 1987 to 1994, he was also Director of the School’s library. Since 2012, he has presided over the Research Ethics Committee.

He has been influential around the globe as a recognized expert in his field, leading him to serve as a guest professor and evaluator of educational programs in ten different countries across five continents. In 2006, the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines et relations industrielles agréés du Québec (CRHA) awarded him the title of “Professional Emeritus,” an honour bestowed annually on one of the Order’s 900 professionals, in recognition of his exceptional achievements.

Among other positions, he served successive terms Director of the MSc program from 1992 to 1995, Director of Programs from 2000 to 2006, and Director of the Department of Applied Economics twice, from 1995 to 1999 and from 2008 to 2011.

His expertise earned him the prestigious position of special advisor to the Bank of Canada in 1999–2000. He also served on the CD Howe Institute's Monetary Policy Council from 2003 to 2006. 

Some of her roles included Director of the Department of Finance Education, from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2004, and Director of the Department of International Business Education from 2004 to 2006, which she helped to create in 2004.

In terms of external influence, Ms. Séguin-Dulude, a prolific author, also became known as a pioneer in the School’s relations with China.

As Director of HEC Montréal from 1995 to 2006, Mr. Toulouse excelled in both teaching and research, as well as in his commitment to raising the School’s international profile.

Before his appointment as Director of the School, he served as Director of Research and Director of the PhD program from 1976 to 1979, Director of the Department of Administration and Human Resources Education from 1979 to 1984, and holder of the Maclean Hunter Chair in Entrepreneurship from 1988 to 1994.

Under his leadership, the School further expanded its horizons and earned enviable recognition for its activities and programs, both at home and abroad, by obtaining some of the most prestigious international accreditations (EQUIS, AMBA, and AACSB) and placing high in major rankings (Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, etc.). It was also during his time as Director that the trilingual cohort was launched in the BBA program and that students began using laptops in class, first in the MBA program and then in the BBA program.

Mr. Côté served as Director of the Department of Accounting Education from 1961 to 1984. He also chaired the French Terminology Committee of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec from 1970 to 1979. From 1985 to 1994, he held the Chair in Accounting, the first of its kind in Quebec. He also continued to teach—sometimes as a guest professor in Europe and Asia—and to give lectures, both here and abroad. 

At the School, in addition to teaching, Mr. Diorio served successive terms as Director of the MBA program from 1972 to 1975 and Director of the Department of Operations and Production Management Education from 1975-1980 and again from 1987 à 1992. He is the author of various books on operations and production management and served as an “expert” on the Production and Inventory Management Terminology Committee of the Canadian Association for Production and Inventory Management. 

She served as director of the MSc program from 1978 to 1981, Director of the BBA program from 1981 to 1986 and Director of the Department of Applied Economics from 1991 to 1995. She was a source of inspiration to her colleagues and students and conducted a thorough review of the programs she oversaw and saw to their continued development.

In terms of external influence, she served as president of the Canadian Society of Economic Science while heading the department, for which she was an outstanding ambassador.

Director of the Department of Applied Economics from 1969 to 1972, Director of HEC Montréal from 1982 to 1986, and Professor Emeritus since 1997, Mr. Harvey has left a significant legacy in teaching and in scholarly and historical publications. He has also made significant contributions to initiatives and commissions launched by the Government of Quebec. Mr. Harvey was frequently sought after and, in the 1970s, helped draft a white paper on human resources in Quebec. He joined a Quebec delegation to Asia led by Premier René Lévesque in 1984.

During his tenure as Director, he was also responsible for a thorough overhaul of the institution’s charter. Toward the end of his career, he oversaw the drafting of monographs on the School and the accounting profession. The books L’Histoire de l’École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal, Volume I (1887–1926) and Volume II (1926–1970), as well as the book Une longue conquête: histoire de la profession comptable au Québec, are seminal works that are essential reading for anyone interested in the history of Quebec during the 20th century.
