A Belgian by birth, he was the very first Director of HEC Montréal (1907–1916). He recruited faculty, designed programs, managed the School and launched the Revue économique canadienne (today L’Actualité économique). A true visionary, he equipped the School with advanced teaching facilities, giving HEC Montréal the impetus it needed to become an exceptional institution of higher learning.
