An HEC Montréal Professor (1967–2014), he taught management for over 45 years, and was known for his recognition of the diversity of human groups and individual uniqueness. He is an acknowledged forerunner in the field of interdisciplinarity and humanism in management, and has always been always interested in innovative teaching. In 2004, he also co-founded and directed the Humanism, Management and Globalization Centre.
