Historic Evening for HEC Montréal Alumni in Paris

July 5, 2016

HEC Montréal director Michel Patry and Gilbert Réveillon, chair of HEC Montréal Europe Alumni, welcomed with close to 200 alumni currently living in Europe to Palais Garnier in Paris on June 27.

The celebration marked the 30th anniversary of HEC Montréal Europe Alumni. In attendance were members of the association, prominent HEC Montréal faculty members and distinguished guests, as well as the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Canada’s ambassador to France, and Michel Robitaille, Quebec’s delegate general to Paris and personal representative of the Quebec premier on matters related to the Francophonie.

Mr. Patry indicated how pleased he was to be involved in an event that fostered HEC Montréal’s global reputation and visibility. He recognized the high quality of the network that the association has established and maintained since its founding.

Alumni HEC Montréal director Marie-Hélène Dionne was also very appreciative of the evening’s festivities. She mentioned several partnership opportunities being explored by HEC Montréal Europe Alumni to further strengthen this network in France and elsewhere in order to promote HEC Montréal and help young professionals and alumni move forward with their career ambitions. “As worldwide competition grows fiercer, I feel it is a top priority for us to bring all of HEC Montréal’s communities together and ensure that our alumni are on the same page when it comes to pursuing these development goals,” she said.

HEC Montréal and France: Three decades of history and a solid foundation

HEC Montréal is building on its strengths to continue to reach out internationally, thanks to its Paris office set up in 2002.

In 2015, the HEC Montréal alumni population included 385 French nationals, accounting for over 10% of the total community. And more than 3,000 alumni from France have called the School their alma mater since 1970. Many of them work for such well-known corporations as Ford, Virgin, EY, L’Oréal, BNP Paribas, PwC, Danone and Accenture, as well as a number of innovative startups.

“A HEC Montréal diploma is a tremendous passport to the global market,” said Mr. Réveillon. “Not only has it enabled me to develop lasting ties with passionate students from varied backgrounds, it has allowed me to acquire world-class business management skills and abilities.”

Over the years, HEC Montréal has forged partnerships with many top French institutions, including Sciences Po Paris, EMLYON Business School and ESCP Europe, in addition to the business community at large. Several HEC Montréal alumni belong to the prestigious G9+ Institute, a digital think tank whose membership includes professionals from leading French schools.

The event on June 27 was an opportunity for our outstanding alumni and representatives of the French and European business communities to meet, mingle and mix in a unique setting.
