HEC Montréal takes 1st place in the 2017 Jeux du Commerce

The HEC Montréal team of 80 BAA students took 1st place in the 2017 Jeux du commerce, held at the Université de Moncton from January 6 to 8.

This triumph means that the School has now finished in the top three 24 times in 29 years.

Coached by the School’s Competitions Committee and Guest Professor René Gendreau (Marketing), the School’s team shone in a number of categories.

The team won the Academic Cup (tied with the delegation from the Concordia University John Molson School of Business). It also brought home the Sports Cup, and won 2nd place for the Social component and 3rd place for Participation.

  • Taxation case: 1st place
  • Stock exchange simulation: 2nd place
  • Marketing case: 2nd place
  • Strategy case: 3rd place
  • Organizational information systems case: 3rd place 
  • Debating: 3rd place

Sports 

  • Intercrosse: 2nd place
  • Volleyball: 3rd place 

The Jeux du Commerce bring together nearly 1,300 BAA students from 13 universities in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick, and pit them against one another in academic, sports and social competitions. The goal is to foster closer relations among these future business and corporate leaders, create lasting connections among the participants, develop their initiative and foster healthy competition and, above all, excellence.
