LaTeX training offered by the library

Learn all concepts required to utilize the LaTeX Document preparation system through a series of three training sessions.

LaTeX 1 : Basic concepts 

A basic training session allowing you to master LaTeX - you will learn how to use all of the basic tools comprised within the system. This training session is a prerequisite to the following.  

Training outline 

  1. Presentation of TeX and LaTeX
  2. Basic concepts 
  3. Organisation of a document
  4. Appearance of text
  5. Presentation of the hecthese class

Duration : 3 hours

LaTeX 2 : Advanced concepts

An advanced training session covering concepts such as the advantages of using LaTeX over word processing software and its value within the context of scientific and technical writing. Prerequisite: have completed the LaTeX 1 training session.

  2. Mathematics
  3. Bibliographies and citations
  4. Application within the context of HEC Montréal 

Duration : 3 hours

LaTeX 3 : hecthese document class

Continuation of LaTeX Workshop 2 is intended for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. This very specific workshop covers the hecthese document class used to write a dissertation or thesis with LaTeX while complying to HEC Montréal’s presentation standards.
