Course Reserves

Materials can be placed on Course Reserves upon request by an instructor. They are available at the circulation desk.

  • Valid HEC student card required
  • Duration: 3 hours

Scanning Service

The Request/Scan button (see opposite) allows the HEC community to request a scan of an article or book chapter available in print format. To make a request:

  1. Locate the document in the Sofia search tool;
  2. Click on the Request/Scan button;
  3. Under Pick up Options, select Bibliothèque HEC Montréal - Numérisation - Indiquer vos pages;
  4. Enter any necessary details for your request under Need a specific copy or volume? Anything else we need to know about this request?

Delivery time is approximately 48 to 72 hours for available scans.

A hyperlink to the digitized version is sent by email.

If HEC Montréal does not hold the document or if all the copies are borrowed, it is possible to make the digitization request via our interlibrary loan service.

It is possible to reproduce :

  • up to 20% of a book,
  • a chapter if it does not exceed 20% of the book,
  • an article.

Borrowing other items

Other items include headphones, calculators, earmuffs, smartphone charging cables and an Apple power adapter.

  • Borrowing period : 24 hours
  • Fines : 0.50$ per hour per item (maximum 20.00$ per item)

Laptop loans

You can borrow a laptop from the library if your meet these three conditions:

Only students that are currently attending at least one course can use this service.

YOU HAVE YOUR VALID HEC MONTRÉAL STUDENT CARD.

If you don't have it with you, a valid piece of ID with a picture and your student number will be accepted.
Amende

YOU OWE THE LIBRARY LESS THAN 50.00$ IN FEES AND FINES.

Those that exceed this limit will have to pay their debt first.

To borrow a laptop, you must:

Network loans service

You can now request books that are held by other university libraries in Quebec by using the Request button directly within our Sofia search engine and have them delivered at the HEC Montréal library.

HEC Montréal students, professors, researchers, as well as other employees can already borrow documents from other university libraries in Quebec just by presenting their active HEC card.

To request a scanned copy of a book chapter or a journal article from a PBUQ library, please use the Interlibrary loans service.

The interlibrary loan service allows you to obtain a document that the Quebec University Libraries (BUQ) do not have.

We invite you to place a request in Sofia by clicking on the Request Item through ILL as shown on the image.

Borrowing from other universities (BCI card)

The BCI (Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire) card is available to all students registered in a program as well as to all teaching and non-teaching staff. BCI card holders can borrow documents from participating libraries in Canada.

The BCI card is issued on September 30th of each year for the duration of one year ; therefore, a new card must be requested each year. Come visit us at the circulation desk to obtain one.
