Privacy Policy

Respect for your privacy is a key concern of the International Journal of Case Studies in Management (IJCSM), which is responsible for managing data on the submission management website.

The goal of this privacy policy is to inform you of the practices adopted with regard to the personal information you provide via this site. It discloses the privacy practices governing the IJCSM’s management of submissions (from the creation and updating of user accounts, the submission of manuscripts, the management of the evaluation process, and the management of revisions to the final decision to accept or reject cases). The privacy policy is based on the principles of the information security policy of HEC Montréal.

By using our submission management system, you accept the terms of this policy. Any user of this website is deemed to have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions of this privacy policy. If you do not accept the terms of this policy, you may not use the site. The IJCSM reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time without notice.

SCOPE OF POLICY

This policy applies solely to the submission management system of the IJCSM. It takes into account the requirements of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information and any other applicable legislation.

USE OF THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Journal uses the Editorial Manager system of Aries Systems, a Massachusetts corporation. By engaging in any activity in our submission management system (creating or updating a user account, submitting a manuscript, uploading an evaluation, etc.), you are using a website that is under the responsibility of this service provider, and you accept that the entered data will be transferred, used, and stored in the United States.

This privacy policy does not apply to the data collected, processed, and stored by Aries. We advise you to read the privacy policy of this company before using our submission management system. We are not responsible for any use this third party may make of the data entered. You can read its privacy policy here: https://www.ariessys.com/about/privacy-policy/.

USE OF DATA

The small editorial staff of the IJCSM has access to all the data stored in the Editorial Manager system. The information collected is used to process your submission, including the blind peer-review. Since the evaluation process depends on this collaborative effort, you should know that by creating a user account in the submission management system, you are agreeing to be asked to evaluate the submissions of your peers. You will, however, be free to accept or refuse that request.

In addition, two third parties also have access to the data collected:

  • the Aries service provider for the operation and maintenance of the submission management system
  • the peers who are asked to review cases (access to the names of cases and their summaries) or who have agreed to evaluate submissions (access to the entire submission). Since the evaluation is blind, the reviewers are not given access to information that would identify the authors. In the request email, they are reminded of the need to respect the tradition of university publications to ensure the confidentiality of cases being reviewed.

Be assured that under no circumstances will the IJCSM sell or rent data for any commercial or other purpose.

VERIFYING AND UPDATING PERSONAL INFORMATION

By accessing your user account in the submission management system, you can see and verify the data we store for you. In the same way, you can also update or correct your personal information at any time.

CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to revise this policy at any time. This version of the privacy policy will become effective on May 1, 2018.
