Don Etherington, design bindings, a retrospective

May 19th to September 30th, 2016

Over the years, through major international events, ARA-Canada has forged close ties with several institutions and bookbinders in Europe and the United States in particular.

This time, we wish to draw book lovers' and the general public's attention to the remarkable works of art of British-American designer bookbinder Don Etherington.

This project was born through the collaboration of HEC Montréal, ARA-Canada, and the relentless efforts of the curator of the exhibition, Monique Lallier.

This international exhibit is a retrospective of past and current works. Its intention is to offer an overview that highlights and puts into perspective over 65 tears of creative work.

The visitors are offered true works of art : a kaleidoscope of shapes and colours supported by a remarkable quality of execution. A delight for the eyes! Each binding brings into play different processes. Their innovative character, creative ingenuity and execution constraints deserve special mention.
